Mini-tummy tuck

  • A mini-tummy tuck or mini-abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure carried out to slim the lower abdomen and waist in the case where excess skin prevents a liposuction procedure alone to achieve satisfactory results.
  • This intervention involves removal of excess fat from the abdominal wall, some tightening of abdominal muscles to restore tone, and trimming excess skin.
  • The procedure is commonly carried out under general anesthesia.
  • The incision is made across the waistline above the pubic area.
  • The resulting scar is usually very inconspicuous.
  • A mini-tummy tuck requires only a very short time of hospitalization (one or two days).
  • Wearing a compression garment (abdominal brief) in the first postoperative fortnight is recommended to ease healing and help tissues to distribute themselves harmoniously.
