  • Only an overall analysis of the face can help appreciate the best balance between the different structures and harmony of the whole. Upper face (forehead), mid-face (nose), and lower face (lips and chin) must obey accurate ratios to render a harmonious composition.
  • Profile analysis based on photographs and facial x-rays contributes to define the surgical procedure best suited. A hump removing rhinoplasty may not suffice if a strongly recessed chin is not also corrected.
  • Similarly, a nose may seem a bit undersized whereas it is the chin that is too prominent.
