Extended tummy tuck

  • As a result of a substantial weight loss, stretched out lax abdominal muscles require a more complete treatment.
  • Tummy tuck or full abdominoplasty is the surgery to do it. Usually performed under general anesthesia, it consists in completely removing excess fat up to the xiphoid process (the lower part of the rib cage on top of the abdomen), etching the abdominal wall to restore muscle tone, trimming excess skin, and sometimes, repositioning of the navel on the redraped skin after its having been drawn down and sewn.
  • A longer postoperative stay in the clinic is necessary (two to three days) and an abdominal pressure garment will be placed, that you will be instructed to wear for at least a fortnight.
